Simon Ferrigno is a freelance consultant, researcher and writer on cotton and sustainability. Simon has been working in sustainable agriculture since 1998. Simon works for both public and private sector clients and is a regular contributor to Ecotextile News. He is a member of the RITE Group steering committee, the BCI advisory group and the Soil Association Textile and Trade group. He is a regular speaker at international events, such as the International Cotton Advisory Committee and recently convened the organic textiles section of the 17th Organic World Congress. Simon has previously worked for the Pesticide Action Network and the International Institute for Environment and development.
Simon is currently writing 'An Insider's Guide to Cotton and Sustainability', a 100 page guide to cotton, its production, the sustainability challenges and solutions, data on the sector and the sustainable options as well as future challenges. Simon is also a founding partner of the Buying Pool, an innovative new sourcing platform which aims to help small and medium sized buyers group orders to be able to source from manufacturers in bulk, thus ensuting wider supply and better prices.
