Gabriela Mazepa: Brazilian, born in Curitiba, 1982.
Gabriela wears garments that were worn by her mother and grandmothers and believes more in self-esteem than in fashion trends. She tries to understand things. She likes Psychoanalysis.
She normally does three things at the same time and is as stubborn as a Taurus can be.
She loves what she does. She believes that everything is connected.
Career history / Company history:
Graduated in 2006 at "l'école des Art Décoratifs", Strasbourg/France, she studied Textile focusing on Reusing/Upcycling fabric leftovers and garments.
In 2009, she won the British Council fashion Awards and created the project/label CONEXAO.
The Brazilian Designer Gabriela Mazepa crossed the globe from Brazil to develop the project in Colombo, the economic hub of Sri Lanka.
Project CONEXAO has been developed as a “limited edition” fashion collection brought together by the untiring efforts of a small group of underprivileged persons who have been provided a mode of income through this project. The reinvented and rehashed garments and accessories have gone through massive changes from their original states as a result of the dedication, determination and more importantly the creative instincts of all those involved in the process.
