About me / About business or organisation:
I lead on the creative economy portfolio for the British Council in India. We have been pioneering to build a strong community and professional network of creative businesses, through the reward programme Young Creative Entrepreneur Awards. In India, where the creative industries are often under-recognised despite their contribution to the country’s economy, the YCE awards help nurture enterprise across seven categories – design, music, fashion, screen (film, TV and animation), interactive (software, entertainment, games and social media platforms), performing arts (theatre, dance and “live” art) and publishing. The YCE programme aims to inspire and facilitate the sharing of best practices in building skills and access to resources, professional development, markets, mentoring and resources to increase business opportunities between India, UK and internationally. The intention is to build an eco-system that supports the expansion of creative businesses in India.
Career history / Company history:
Rwituja has been developing the Young Creative Entrepreneur programme in India since its inception in 2005. Before that she was working in the arts, showcasing different art form and literary events at festivals.
Under her leadership the YCE programme has gained credibility within the wider creative industries sector and has led India to be the only country within the British Council’s international network to have won international awards for Publishing, Design and Music and received special commendations for Fashion, Visual Arts and Communications. She’s keenly interested to generate awareness about creative entrepreneurship in India and strengthen the network (in India and internationally) to lead to substantial collaborative and commercial opportunities.
