A committed mother, wife and an entrepreneur is how I describe myself. Living in Netherlands today, I have built a company whose inherent strength is its people.
I use my designing skills to create a fusion of traditional techniques with contemporary fashion palates, which is reflected in my designs for cashmeres and jewelry. The process and experiences are immensely rewarding and it gives me pride to represent a shining facet of India through my work.
Career history / Company history:
An Honours Degree in English Literature, I followed it with a diploma in Travel and Tourism and worked in the travel industry for a while.
My flair for arts led me towards jewellery designing. I started in Mumbai (then Bombay), India with a family owned business. A move to Singapore gave me an opportunity to learn more of jewellery designing with La Salle College of Arts. With a fulfilling career in Singapore, today I am constantly researching for indigenous techniques to develop a line of contemporary jewellery.
After a sabbatical from work for three years when I was a full time mother, I decided to launch my own business. That is how Laboni was born and three years down the line it is growing as a brand that lives with the byline:
"Fashion with a Sense of Purpose"
