My primary role in relation to fashion is:
Designer
I am looking to discover or buy
Employment in the ethical fashion industry. Fashion, printed textiles and jewellery/accessories. Studio assistance, research & product development. General knowledge, information, and ways I can get involved.
About me / About business or organisation:
A fashion graduate from Brighton, I have recently moved to London and have various experiences in all kinds of different fashion companies. Currently I am a design assistant for an ethnic-inspired high street brand but am trying to learn more about ethical fashion and in particular, the design process involved in producing ethical products.
Career history / Company history:
Internships:
Anokhi, Jaipur, India. Print design intern in the design studio at Anokhi, and my first experience of working for a large, successful ethical fashion company. This was a key experience for me and made me want to learn more about ethical fashion and textiles.
Sarah Arnett Bridal, Brighton, UK. Assisting in the design studio, lots of hand-embroidery, beadwork and hand-sewing bridal corsages / adornments.
Dr Noki, Brighton. Sustainable fashion designer who recycles old garments into avant-garde fashion pieces and encourages others to do the same. I helped in his design studio on a short-term internship.
Louise Goldin, London, UK. Short-term internship assisting with her AW11 collection, hand-beading various garments.
Vivienne Westwood, London, UK. Internship in the Jewellery Design department at Head Office, assisting the jewellery designer and product manager with the development of the VW commercial and catwalk jewellery ranges. Took on various responsibilities including designing, researching, supplier liaison and show assistance.
EAST Ltd: Current employers. I currently work as a design assistant at East Ltd, where I assist with the development of the mainline, Artisan and Boutique collections. I mainly design embroideries, and have also worked on print projects, as well as the general tasks involved with keeping the studio organised and samples produced on time.
Hiroko Koshino: Jewellery Design. I was recently commissioned by Japanese fashion designer Hiroko Koshino to create resin and leather jewellery pieces to compliment her clothing collections.

Hopefully this gives a brief overview of my career history. My experiences are very diverse, and I have learned a lot about different parts of the industry. Now, I am keen to find work with an ethical fashion company or to learn more about how to start producing my own sustainable designs on a small scale.
