Hi Meredith, yes they are all tartans but 'national' tartans that represent entire countries. They are ethically-produced in South Africa and environmentally friendly ie the lowest carbon footprintt of any fabric I know of. No valuable water resource is required to produce them and they are not dependent on climate. More importantly a percentage of their value goes to support humanitarian projects and form sustainable micro-businesses where resources are most needed.
