About me / About business or organisation:

I am a uruguayan fashion designer, based in São Paulo, since 2003.
I studied Industrial Design, focused on Textile and Fashion Desing
in Montevideo´s Centro de Diseño Industrial. I´ve been working in
the fashion industry since my arrival in Brazil. Since 2008 I am menswear
designer at Daslu Homem. Before this I worked for years for designer Jum Nakao.
In 2008 I started the brand IN.USE in collaboration with Ana Inés Piriz, friend and colleague from University.
From our experience working as fashion designers in Uruguay and Brasil we started thinking about
a solution for surplus stocks of garments that are not sold when seasons changes.
My aim in my career is to make a live from designing and developing products using industry surplus stock,
waste and left overs. In other words, doing what I´ve been doing inside commercial structures (brands)
using discarted material as raw material.

Career history / Company history:

IN.USE is an upcycling brand born in 2008 between Uruguay and Brazil.
We create and produce collections using industry "left-overs": surplus stocks and waste,
using two concepts and techniques: industrial upcycling and reverse engeneering.
We started making our own collections and now we are working on our first
consultancy project desiginig an upcycling collection for a brand in Brazil.
Our aim is to make a side line inside the brand, using all the waste from the main line.
Taking profit of all the brand´s structure for building a specific producing and commercial system for this upcycling line.
This case we are working on will be our bussiness case for offering the industrial upcycling service to other brands and factories.
We also do workshops in schools and event where we discuss the recycling and upcycling issues among
fashion market and where we teach the techniques for creating and producing industrial upcycled collections.
