Hi Jenna, fashion can have a higher purpose if it is used to promote 'good causes'.
ie the fairer distribution of wealth.
I use tartan to promote 22 African countries internationally and generate employment and income for humanitarian projects. I also have a 'Four Seasons' range of designs targetted at the Japanese market with proceeds going to set up businesses in India and feed and educate children.
Seeing the potential in the USA I am creating a range of NFL football team designs - 4 so far. A group in the San Francisco are interested in developing this project. wityh proceeds going to projects in South Africa. They are looking at staging a fashion show next February through the University of the Arts using a selection of these designs. ABC Channel Seven are interested in screening it.
I encourage fashion schools to use these designs in live projects with their students. Ethical, educational, humanitarian. Fashion can be all of these.
