About me / About business or organisation:: Queen's Wood Studio makes one-of-a-kind eco friendly jewellery using recycled silver & gold and vintage gemstone beads lovingly hand-picked from charity shops and markets around the world.

Career history / Company history:: Hattie spent her childhood making jewellery out of bottle tops and coils of stripey telephone wire, collecting old necklaces and beads wherever she could. Aged 17, she took a City and Guilds qualification in silver smithing and jewellery design under the tutelage of Rachel Jeffrey. When the course finished her aunt and uncle generously sponsored her to kit out a full basic workshop, and suddenly she was in business making silver and gold rings, bangles, earrings, bracelets and necklaces for commissions and for gifts. During university she spent Christmas holidays at Astley Clarke, an online designer jewellery company, picking and gift-wrapping jewellery. It is there that she learnt the importance of brand, of beautiful presentation, and of course, stunning jewellery. Her 'day job' is currently as a PhD student at the University of Oxford, though she lives (and often works) in Highgate in north London. Her studio is there too and since launching her Etsy shop in December 2014 she steals as much time there as she can, designing and making precious things looking over the oaks and hornbeams of the ancient Queen's Wood.
