MISSION
TANO Design aims is to promote cultural awareness, political consciousness and social justice through creative design concepts.

TANO Design opened its doors in January 2010. The concept is the synthesis between a passion for design and a belief in agency and the respect for human rights.

PRODUCTS & INITIATIVES

1. Decorate 2 Educate:
Our Decorate 2 Educate initiative currently offers fresh and iconic limited edition 17 inch x 11 inch high quality glossy poster prints. We carry a range of vibrant, informative and educational posters that are well suited for homes, offices, schools, colleges, cafe's, restaurants, community centers, libraries and other social or individual spaces. Our posters are available at a limited time offer of 40% off through our online store. Larger prints, custom, and bulk orders are available upon special request.

2. TANO Touch:
We believe in social responsibility, and at TANO Design we practice what we preach. Through our campaign division TANO Touch, 15% of the proceeds from every product sold is contributed to a carefully selected cause.

This season, the proceeds from your purchase will support the South Kivu Women's Media Association in the Democratic Republic of Congo (AFEM/SK): AFEM/SK is an NGO comprised of 42 Congolese women media professionals working in war torn Bukavu, DRC. AFEM's aim is to promote women's rights by using media tools to address the issue of wartime sexual violence. Ms. Chouchou Namegabe, AFEM's founder is a tremendous inspiration. She was the 2009 recipient of the prestigious Knight International Journalism Award.

About the Founder
Eddie Mandhry is a New York based human rights educator working with youth in some of the most under-served public schools to promote civic engagement, global awareness and youth activism. He holds a BA in Political Science and African Studies from Hampshire College, and an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics. He is a 2008 graduate of the Columbia Business School Social Enterprise Exec. Ed. program. He previously interned with The Hague Appeal for Peace, the Aga Khan Foundation in Geneva and the Inter-Africa Committee on Harmful Traditional Practices Against Women and Children also in Geneva, Switzerland. Eddie is a Kenyan of Ethiopian and Omani heritage.
