Origines Nomades is a brand that evokes far off lands, exotic cultures and the merchant explorers of a bygone age. It suggests also a movement, an evolution towards ethical fashion. Origines Nomades aspires, through its collection, to take the client on a voyage of discovery of local traditions. The brand wishes to promote local craftmanship. The collections are designed in France, and then produced in Kenya and Bangladesh. The materials are sourced locally, preferring natural, organic fabrics and recycled materials. The fabrics are hand woven. A subtle mix of cultures, Euro trends with African and Asian artisanship to appeal to a global clientele. The styles are classic to be worn everyday.
The suppliers follow the Charter of the WFTO. Respect is the essential value of ON.
Career history / Company history:
I have worked in fashion for a number of years. I realised after working for large clothing companies in developing countries (India, Bangladesh...) that my work did not satisfy my ambitions or correspond to my values. The pressure imposed by the buyers and the lack of consideration for the producers in order to pay the lowest possible price made me rethink my position. When working as a volunteer in Kenya for several months, I discovered another culture whose poor situation changed me totally. The desire 'to do something' for the communities was born. I started to think of what I could do and how I could do it.
Out of a passion for travel and the desire to change the fashion business came Origines Nomades.
