Hi Carrie, my primary interest is in wool and I'd be interested to know how it performs in these various categories you mention. I'm afraid I just take it for granted that its ideal because its time-honoured.
I commissioned the first tartan ever to be produced in Africa and it came off the loom only last Friday. The wool was from a local merino flock, carded, spun and dyed locally. Even if it doesn't pass some of the other tests I guess it wins hands down on ethicity and carbon footprint since most of it is intended for the African garment and fashion industry. The remainder is for the US.
