Hi Christiana, does working for Ghana count?

Hi Christiana, I understand where youre coming from and I'm in agreement.
There is a considerable difference between tartan and kente. Kente is Ghanaian but tartan is both universal and flexible. I already produce over 30 products in tartan from fashionwear to gifts to wrapping paper.
This project is in three stages: firstly to create awareness by introducing wool tartan to the Ghanaian diaspora and those who associate with Ghana. I work closely with a group of African women from a dozen countries in Glasgow called Karibu which is setting up a small business manufacturing tartan garments. Secondly to use part of that income to generate funding to have it woven/printed in cotton in Ghana. Thirdly to set up community businesses in Ghana (womens co-operatives) to manufacture products for the domestic market and export both cloth and products. The bulk of the profits would be retained in Ghana with only a small % reverting to Tartans for Africa. The objective is to create greater awareness of Ghana and help stimulate their economy in some small way.
The Ghana tartan will be on show at the World Cup fashion show in cape Town in May. If you look at the pic on my profile the Ghana tartan is the first on stage.

If you visit this site you'll see the video of the 'Tartans for Africa' fashion show held in Glasgow last November. Most of the outfits were designed/made/modelledby African women.
