Profile Information:

Profession / role:
Label Owner & Designer
Company / organisation:
Studio Anglindo
Website (if you have one):
http://www.studio-anglindo.com & www.scrabbbooklet.blogspot.com
My primary role in relation to fashion is:
Consumer, Designer
I am looking to discover or buy
contacts / general advice on ethical sourcing in Indonesia / SE Asia & exchange with fellow ethical designers.
About me / About business or organisation:
I have recently moved to Indonesia, where I spend 8 years of my childhood before living in Germany. Previously I had been studying and working in Manchester. During my studies, an ambivalent feeling towards fashion emerged; I never agreed with the superficialness by following every fad and making money at any cost (socially & environmentally). This notion was only confirmed after working at Puma and Bench. I took a risk career-wise and left my job to find myself in the beautiful jungle-city of Bandung, working freelance and facing the challenge of finding sustainable solutions in small-scale production. I am hoping to spread the (currently widely locally unknown) word of eco fashion and give something back to the wonderful people living on this archipelago.
Career history / Company history:
In Summer 2008 I graduated with a BA(hons) in Clothing Design and Technology from Manchester Metropolitan University which included a years placement at PUMA in Germany. I have also worked with independent labels in Berlin. After graduation I worked as a denim designer at Bench in Manchester. I am currently a freelance designer in Bandung, Indonesia where I am exploring the potential of sustainable fashion concepts - a personal and professional concern of mine.

    Dear Anja,

My name is Laricea Ioana Roman and I am a student at Kingston University, London (KU ID 0942659). I am doing a Master in Marketing, Advertising and Communications and at the moment I am writing my Dissertation. My topic is related to ethical clothing, more specifically, I am investigating how personal values influence customers' decision to buy ethical clothing. In order to come up with some answers for my topic, I need some opinions from people who actually bought ethical clothes.

This is the reason why I am kindly asking you to help me and fill in my questionnaire. It will take you no more than 10 minutes and you can win three books and £30 vouchers!

    Hi Anja Claire,
Somehow I missed your posting in September, regarding your trip to Thailand and Laos. If you're still coming, you're welcome to come and visit my ethical-organic-traditional silk venture out in a village in Northeast Thailand. Everything from mulberry to weaving is done right there, our colours are totally natural, and the weavers have full cultural ownership of their knowledge and designs.
You can check us out if you like at www.weaving.sawangboran.com.
best regards, and perhaps a bientot,
    rosanne
