About me / About business or organisation:
I am a founder and CEO of ‘MORALFIBRE’, based in India, Gujarat. MORALFIBRE is set up in 2007 to re-invent hand spun hand woven fabric making technology in the contemporary context and promote it in India and abroad. MORALFIBRE brand supports and develops 'almost carbon neutral' fabrics. This includes cotton, silk, wool and innovative blends and organic cotton fabrics. The fabrics are made using human energy rather than electreicity. We also specialise in furnishings and Feel Well Fashions.

Today when the concerns about Global Warming and Climate Change are growing, it is a unique way of fabric making, clean energy initiative aiming to have far reaching economic and social benefits for the people.

I am an architect (Dip. Arch. CEPT, AIIA, ARIBA), a Community Project Initiator and a financial consultant. My specialisation has been in Energy efficiency and sustainable practices. I have worked in many national and international design and research projects. I am on the Board of several charities andI am businessperson. I live in London, UK and Ahmedabad, India.

    Hi Shailini,

    I am currently doing my MA from central saint martins and was really interested in 'ethical fashion' after attending a seminar on it. Since i just learned a bit about it I was wondering on how this type of fashion can be introduced in pakistan. But while resaeching more on this subject there tends to be and endless amount of information! How do you think ethical fashion can benefit a place like pakistan? what are the reasons why they havent started it domestically? In what ways can it be started since there are so many aspects to cover. Would be great to get your feedback as it might guide me in some direction. Hope to hear from you soon. Take Care,

    Thank you for your reply and sorry for not getting back to you any sooner. Could you tell me a bit about MORALFIBRE and how it works. You mentioned 'awareness of issues'- for designers to start this new 'trend' of ethical movement what issues have you come across that lead to possible ways of being sustainable or educating consumers in the fashion/textiles industry? What I am hoping to achieve is to look at what is approachable in the Pakistani market and see how I can strategize their ways of working through ethical fashion and at the same time innovate society through design and awareness.
