Transparency in supply chains

Lack of visibility and a lack of direct influence over suppliers further down the supply chain can lead to distinct problems; which has become clear in the wake of Bangladesh 24.04.13. 

But, how can we improve transparency of information across the supply chain to get a better visibility of supplier performance? And, is getting information enough? Or do we need to go beyond this and seek ways in which we can collaborate?
