Hi Kiran
The current state of the fashion industry in the caribbean is the reason i started this group. To highlight awareness and to find out what actually is happening there. With what is happening in Haiti right now highlights the importance of fashion making a difference there. The secondhand clothing market from the US to the Caribbean could bring forth an opportunity for the Caribbean if handled int the same way.

I just think its not associated as much together - fashion is big there - how you look and feel go together but its not recognised as important there outside of the Caribbean. Its more seen as a place for beaches and tropical fruit and interesting food.

I am still interested to get involved with something there but for now its research research research :)

Hi Jacqueline, thank you! You used one of my favorite Gandhi quotes by the way. Curious, what are your thoughts on the current state of the fashion industry in the Carribean...what are the main challenges for ethical fashion? Knowledge, culture, access to resources? I see here in PR that people don't get a lot of incentive not to leave trash on the ground, it seems (upon initial impression...but time will tell) that maybe the consumer / disposable culture is an obstacle. Maybe an awareness campaign is in order. not sure. :) With such beautiful nature here and a growing sentiment favoring organic foods, ecological preservation, maybe this change is coming. Hope so! it is definitely pretty here.
