Die beiden Frauen, die sich für Arbeits- und Menschenrechte einsetzen, arbeiten für eine Partnerorganisation der Clean Clothes Campaign - Kampagne für Saubere Kleidung. In ihren wissenschaftlichen Analysen und Publikationen werden die negativen Auswirkungen der Globalisierung aufgezeigt, doch gleichzeitig werden ebenso Veränderungen angestrebt. Besonderes Augenmerk richten sie auf die Arbeits- und Lebensbedingungen von Frauen.

Frau Wong ist Herausgeberin der Zeitschrift „Globalization Monitor“ und involviert in verschiedenen Kampagnen. Darüber hinaus ist sie aktiv in der Bildungsarbeit mit Student_innen und Frauengruppen sowie in Gewerkschaften.

Frau Lau hat verschiedene Recherchen in Zulieferbetrieben globaler Markenfirmen und über den Wirkungsgrad von Corporate Social Responsibility Aktivitäten durchgeführt.

Frau Wong vertritt ebenso die Asia Floor Wage Alliance, eine Initiative von asiatischen Arbeitsrechtler_innen und Gewerkschaften, die das Konzept eines Asiatischen Grundlohns entwickelt hat. Unternehmen behaupteten bisher, eine solche Berechnung wäre nicht möglich. Doch mit der plausiblen Berechnung eines die Existenz sichernden Lohnes, wird dem Lohndumping und der Abwärtsspirale der Einkommen etwas entgegengesetzt: Arbeit in Würde – ein Lohn zum Leben!

Im Rahmen ihrer Rundreise durch Europa berichten May Wong und Rena Lau über die Arbeitsbedingungen in der Bekleidungsindustrie und die Situation von Gewerkschaften und NROs.

Es besteht ein großes Interesse mit Menschen in Europa zu diskutieren, um Globalisierung gerecht zu gestalten. Das Interesse der beiden Frauen aus Hongkong ist, dass Menschen nicht länger gegeneinander ausgespielt werden, indem Regierungen in Asien den Mindestlohn, mit der Begründung Investitionen zu fördern, unter dem Existenzminimum festsetzen und global handelnde Unternehmen dies billigend in Kauf nehmen.
