I'm planning to organise a Swop - O - Rama - Rama in the West Midlands, courtesy of Wendy Tremayne.

Can anyone tell me about their experinces at an event like this? MAybe you have participated as a designer, a visitor or as an organiser, I'd love to hear from you.

Also, if you are based in the West Midlands of the UK and would like to share and promote your creativity and skills, this is a great opportunity to build your network of potential friends, clients and compatriots.

The proposed date of this event will be mid January 2011, after the Christmas dust has settled, sales abated and plenty of old clothes generated from the New - Year clear-out.

This event will tie in with a local arts programme called Arts Nation, it could also become part of an Action Research Brief which I currently preparing for Longhouse, a branch of the arts organisation Multistory. Info on Arts NAtion Below.

The Arts Nation West Midlands project is an Arts Council England West Midlands funded initiative, developed and delivered by Audiences Central, that aims to address the national priority of Public Engagement in 2010/11 and beyond.

The objective of the campaign is to increase frequency of attendance among people who already attend the arts, but for whom at the moment arts attendance or participation is not a core part of their way of life.

The project is made up of a series of activities that will support arts and cultural organisations through the development of new opportunities, partnership working, capacity building, sharing of information, resources and skills, and is divided into two distinct areas; a pilot engagement campaign taking place in the Black Country; and a programme of West Midlands wide organisational support.

The pilot campaign is open to all arts and cultural organisations based in the Black Country, as well as those based outside of this area who have a specific focus on engaging and developing Black Country audiences.

The programme of organisational support is aimed at supporting arts and cultural organisations from across the West Midlands who are interested in attracting, developing and retaining audiences with the help of Arts Council England’s audience segmentation tool Arts Audiences: Insight.
