Nomads Clothing is looking for a womenswear designer!

ABOUT THE COMPANY

We are a ladies clothing company based in Cornwall manufacturing in India with a fair trade ethos.

This is an exciting opportunity to design a complete range rather than be a small cog in a large company.

You will be able to follow the range through from creative idea stage all the way through to a full collection of samples.

We sell wholesale to independent boutiques and also retail direct to the public via our website nomadsclothing.com

JOB DESCRIPTION

Design 2 mid seasonal ranges a year with a view to developing an in season capsule range.
Carry out trend research, using trade shows, comp shop reports and internet prediction information.
Put together trends, moods boards and collections, presenting these to the team.
Create comercial colour palettes and seasonal key stories
Buy prints from design studios and direct a print designer as required.
Recolour prints to fit into the key stories.
Develop desings to meet cost and fit requirements.
Work with suppliers to source new fabrics and trims.
Produce consistent and detailed design specs
Work closely with Company Director and Garment Technologist

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Ability to work to and update the critical path, attending regular critical path meetings
To be passionate about product with an eye for detail
Creativity and experience designing for High Street of a Lifestyle Brand, being commercially aware of current trends
Have the skills to design products which exceed customer expectations
Minimum 5 years relevant experience
Liaising with and travelling to our factories on a regular basis
Knowledge of fabrics and print design
Multi products experience including some outerwear
To be a team player and able to build relationships whilst having the initiative to work autonomously
Computer literate with CAD skills
Competence using Illustrator and Photoshop
Experience of working with factories in India with long lead times.
