2012 and 2013 have been humbling years for supply chain social compliance professionals. The Tazreen and Rana Plaza tragedies were such significant failures that the social compliance industry has had to take a good hard look in the mirror and figure out whether it can afford anything short of a completely new approach. Outside the industry, there are questions about the viability of the corporate CSR function. New stakeholders have entered with shareholder resolutions aimed at limiting some CSR projects that do not have ROI. Supply chain social responsibility professionals need to re-establish their relevance… and fast.
The event in London looks at the macro landscape and pragmatic strategies for better supply chain working conditions. You'll hear from senior team members at ELEVATE, a leading auditing and capacity building consultancy, as well as other senior level representatives from Ethical Trading Initiative, Vigeo + more.

This event looks interesting, though I'm wondering why it's being held at the IOD - an organisation that actively and publicly campaigns against the living wage in the UK.
